Share Charters

On a share charter we target smaller game, increasing the chance of everyone onboard catching a fish. Everyone is assigned a fishing pole the whole time. Share charters are four hours long and depart at 7:30am or 12 noon.

Ono, mahi mahi, yellowfin, skipjack tunas and spearfish are a common catch. We may even do some dead bait or bottomfishing if we are not seeing any action trolling lures.  Every day is different and your captain will inform you of what the recent catches have been and what we should realistically expect the day of your trip. There is always the chance that a big marlin will bite so be prepared.  We take 4 to 8 anglers, everyone is assigned at least one fishing rod and your position is rotated throughout the trip.  Riders may come along to take pictures, whale watch or take in the sun.

We can take up to 18 passengers in your private group on 4, 6 or 8.5 hour fishing trips targeting any fish you desire including our world famous Pacific Blue Marlin…

On a private charter we will target whatever species you desire. We offer bottom fishing to big game fishing and will go for that fish of a lifetime if you choose.  Our boats largest blue marlin is 812 pounds and we are always looking to break that record.  Striped marlin during the winter can also be fun. We currently hold the Hawaii State Record at 212 pounds. The cost of the charter depends on your guest count, whether fishing or not.  We can take up to 18 guests.

How To Book

Fill out our online reservation form or call us at 808-329-1806. We will confirm your trip by taking down your name, mobile number you will be bringing with you to Kona, where you are staying and a credit card number to hold your reservation as we have a 24 hour policy of cancellation for share charters and 48 hour policy of cancellation for private charters.  (see our Cancellation Policy).

Once Your Reservation Is Confirmed

Please check in at least 15 minutes prior the departure time. This will give the captain enough time to greet you and give his rundown and required safety speech. You can also check out our selection of Sea Wife II t-shirts and hats for sale.

We depart from The Fuel Dock in Honokohau Harbor, which is 2 ½ miles north of Kailua-Kona or 5 miles south of the Kona airport on Highway 19. When you turn into the harbor, stay on that road heading straight for the ocean. This will keep you on the left side of the harbor. Near the end, you will see a two-story building with a red roof and a gas station to the right. Park in the lot and proceed to our office on the second floor following the yellow Sea Wife II Charters sign. After checking in, you will be directed to the boat on the dock below. Our GPS address is 74-381 Kealakehe Parkway 96740. You can also view and print a map on this website.

For your convenience, the deli and store on the ground floor opens at 6am daily. Please bring your own food and drinks. We have coolers with ice for you onboard. We request no beverages in glass bottles as broken glass can be dangerous. No dark-soled shoes as they mark up the deck and are very hard to remove. Wear socks or go barefoot if these are all you have please. No bananas allowed on the boat as they are considered bad luck for fishermen. If you use spray on sunscreen, please apply it before boarding.

You may keep what you catch, as the Sea Wife II does not sell fish. Your crew will be happy to clean, cut and bag your fish for an additional tip. Various sized coolers are available for purchase in our office and the store downstairs sells ice.

We will add 4.166% state tax to your charter cost. A single angler will be $98.91 and a single rider will be $52.03.

Gratuities are not included in the charter price. Please consider that it is customary in Hawaii to tip the crew of your charter fishing boat on a scale similar to a restaurant. A Tip Jar is located on the boat as your crew’s hands will hopefully be dirty from filleting your catch.

Cancellation Policy

In order to confirm a reservation, we require a valid credit card number, expiration date and billing zip code. You may be charged a cancellation fee if your reservation is not cancelled more than 24 hours in advance for a share charter or 48 hours in advance for a private charter if we do not have enough time to resell your reserved space. You will be charged a cancellation fee if you simply do not show up for the trip without calling. Emergencies are an exception. We do not charge a deposit to your card. Upon check in before departure, payment is due in full; you may change your method of payment, and/or use several forms of payment for one reservation.
